Calgary’s water is under attack.
Jason Kenney’s reckless expansion of open-pit coal mining in the province will do irreversible damage to our city’s waterways.
This is serious. The mine could introduce high levels of selenium into Calgary’s rivers and waterways–endangering the health of the people of Calgary.
Mayor Nenshi admitted he knows Calgary’s water will be impacted, so why isn’t city council speaking out against the plan?
Our current leadership wants to wait and see if they should have an opinion on this. If the health of Calgary and its residents are under threat, what’s there to think about?
Calgary needs leaders who are not afraid to stand up to the province. Calgary needs leaders who will put Calgarians first.
