Why We Endorse Andrew
With a proven history of community leadership in Ward 3 and career experience in both private and public sectors, Andrew will carry on this work at City Hall.
About Andrew
Having dedicated more than a decade of his career to community work in Ward 3, Andrew believes progress only happens when people are engaged. That’s why he got involved advocating to get his community’s new high school built, installing art around his community, and advocating to develop better, more reliable transit services in his community. Most recently, Andrew founded the Nose Creek Preservation Society to protect our green spaces and the invaluable biodiversity they host.
We need inexpensive ways for residents of Ward 3 to get down to the core. Delaying the Green Line North Leg is a huge issue in this regard.

Check out Ward 3
Ward 3 is home to Sandstone Valley which earned its name after a major fire destroyed many of Calgary’s early wooden buildings in 1886. This led to rebuilding with Paskapoo sandstone, which was more fire-resistant.
Learn More
If you want to learn more about Andrew and see where he stands on critical issues facing Calgarians today, check out Andrew’s responses to our candidate survey:
I am a long time North Central Calgary Advocate who wants to continue advocating for the needs of North Central Calgary as Councillor for Ward 3. I hope to focus on addressing the transit crisis, now that the North Green Line is decades away. I intend to bring fairness to the development discussion which means an investment in the core services needed to support the North’s growing population. I also want to be a voice for our community associations and local advocacy groups.
On housing affordability:
In the North it is not only about increasing the housing supply but it’s improving transit availability. The problem I’m seeing in Ward 3 is that the affordable housing on the fringe does little when people have to buy a vehicle to get anywhere.
On public transportation:
I will be looking at all avenues to improve the transit situation in North Calgary. We have the most overloaded buses up Centre Street and we can no longer just wait around for the Green Line to reach us.
Proper BRT needs to be fast tracked. The current BRT improvements only upgraded the bus stops, they did nothing for timing, frequency, or capacity. We need dedicated lanes up Centre Street ASAP.
On climate planning:
It’s important to protect vital green spaces. Starting Nose Creek Preservation Society, I’ve learned more than I ever wanted regarding our dwindling wetlands. I would definitely have a keen interest in improving our wetland setback policies.
On public services:
Our public employees are crucial to providing the essential services the city provides.
Ward 3 has grown to a population the size of Airdrie’s, and Airdrie is already working on their second rec centre. Ward 3 has one privately run rec centre in Vivo. It’s time to get another rec centre ASAP. I would support the “Making Waves” solution presented in the City’s Game Plan. We need to catch up on our rec centre deficit.
