Why We Endorse Elliot Weinstein
Elliot Weinstein is entrepreneurial with a focus on family and community needs. He’s not in it just to play politics. He will be an involved leader who takes the concerns of residents and the job of a city councillor seriously, making him the best choice for Ward 13.
About Elliot Weinstein
In 2018, Elliot founded an indoor beach volleyball and recreation facility. As a small business owner, Elliot knows what it means to take risks, create opportunities, and to build something meaningful for his community. He wants to use his experience to bring new energy and new ideas to city council. Elliot understands the needs of his rapidly growing ward are affordable housing, transportation, and safety. Elliot also has previous political experience from running federally in the 2023 Calgary Heritage by-election. He lives in a single family home with his wife, two children, and their dog.
I am a husband and a father to two young children. And they are the reason I am really doing this. Because I know we are at a crossroads in our city. We need to elect people with the values, the energy and the drive to properly build Calgary over the next four years.

I am running for city council because I believe that it is time for change, time for some new faces and new ideas. We need to elect people who want to see positive change in our city as we continue to grow towards 2 million residents. We need councillors with experience, dedication and a focus on community, on people, and have the ability to actually work together to get things done.
I have the dedication, experience and energy that we need in council right now and I am here for the right reasons. We need good people in our public service who are here to work, and work together. As someone with a sports background, both as an athlete and an entrepreneur, I know that City Council is a team sport.
On housing affordability:
We need to build more homes — faster and smarter. That means removing barriers to build all forms of housing, streamlining approvals, and ensuring we have infrastructure in place to support new communities. But it also means focusing on infill, transit-oriented development, and public land partnerships that deliver housing where people want to live — close to schools, jobs, recreation facilities and other services. We can’t let red tape hold back the homes Calgarians need.
On public transit:
More and more people are choosing Calgary as their home each year. Building a great transit system – including the Green Line – makes it easier for all of us to get around the city in whatever method we choose.
Transit equity is non-negotiable. Every Calgarian deserves a system that’s safe, reliable, and gets them where they need to go.
On climate planning:
I earned my MBA from the University of Calgary with a focus on energy and sustainability, and two of the boards I have served on are related to addressing climate change: Connecting Environmental Professionals and Leading Change Canada.
I know that climate change isn’t a future problem, it is here. Dealing with it is good fiscal policy.
On public services:
Public services are the backbone of a successful, inclusive city. From transit and fire response to recreation and libraries, these services connect us, support our most vulnerable, and ensure that every Calgarian — regardless of background or income — can thrive. Investing in strong public services is not just good policy; it’s smart economics. It keeps people working, keeps neighbourhoods strong, and builds long-term value for our city.
