About Inam
Inam is a dedicated community builder who prioritizes making Calgary a place where everyone can thrive. He has lived in Ward 6 since 2002 and currently serves as Vice-President of his Community Association.
I am running because I want all Calgarians to have the same opportunities that my family had. My family came to Canada in the seventies, and when they arrived, my dad lived in affordable housing, my mom studied at the library, and my grandparents rode transit to get to work. These essential city services and infrastructure allowed my family to thrive in Calgary. My dad was able to start a successful small business and provide a great life for me and my siblings. These basic building blocks that the city provided set my family up for success by allowing us to seize the opportunity of Canada and give back to our community and country.

With Calgary now growing by about 100,000 people per year, the next city council will have to make decisions that either set our city up for economic growth and prosperity or leave us stuck with permanent growing pains. I want to bring fresh ideas and practical solutions to City Hall so we can grow wisely, invest in our communities, and make life better for everyone who calls Calgary home.
On housing affordability:
The solution to the housing crisis is to build more homes. By removing barriers for non-profit housing providers, working with provincial and federal partners, and prioritizing housing at every turn, we can ensure Calgarians can continue to afford to call this home.
On public transportation:
Strong, reliable transit service is vital for Ward 6 and the entire city. In our ward, areas such as the 85th Street corridor remain underserved, especially as new multi-unit developments bring in residents who rely on good public transit options. That is why, working with my team, I have developed a detailed transit plan for Ward 6. This plan focuses on expanding local routes, improving frequencies, and enhancing connections so that residents can get where they need to go safely, affordably, and conveniently.
On climate planning:
At the city level, climate policy has two key parts: mitigation – cutting the emissions we produce; and adaptation – preparing for and managing the impacts we can’t avoid. While Calgary doesn’t have the same tools as the provincial or federal governments, the city has an important role to play in encouraging efficient land use. Climate adaptation in Calgary needs to include responses to heat, flooding, and fires.
I am in favour of smart density that reduces transport times, and also makes much more efficient use of building energy (shared heating/cooling) to reduce emissions.
On public services:
Public services are the backbone of a successful city. For my family, these services were foundational to building a life in Calgary.
Well-run transit, reliable emergency services, safe public roads, and robust water and power infrastructure are essential to keeping our city moving and our economy productive.
Beyond core infrastructure, public services like recreation facilities, parks, and libraries create gathering spaces that bring people together and strengthen our communities. They provide safe places for children and families, and learning opportunities that, in turn, benefit the broader society.
As Calgary continues to grow by around 100,000 new residents each year, strong public services are not a luxury, but a necessity. They are how we ensure that every Calgarian, no matter where they start, can seize the opportunities our city and country offer. Investing in these services is how we create prosperity, fairness, and a city that works for everyone.
