Why We Endorse Raj
With his experience and strong track record as a City Councillor, Raj will continue to get results for Ward 5.
About Raj
Raj is a dedicated representative of Calgary’s Ward 5, the city’s largest and fastest-growing ward.
Since being elected City Councillor in 2021, Raj has delivered on significant promises. He secured funding for Family and Community Support Services as well as funding for the Northeast Athletic Complex. He also advocated successfully to fund a pavement rehabilitation program that resulted in 6000+ potholes repaired in NE Calgary alone.
Raj’s qualifications include:
- successfully advocated for $109 million to fund the Northeast Athletic Complex
- helped secure $30.1 million for Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) in 2023, increasing social service funding for many organizations across Calgary
- voted to reallocate $8.9 million from winter maintenance reserves toward pavement rehabilitation, resulting in a total of $15.8 million for road repairs across Calgary
- supported an open call for proposals that led to funding approval for 155 social programs across the city, with $40.1 million allocated in 2024
Raj’s approach to city governance is built on inclusivity, transparency, and a people-first philosophy. Whether pushing for safe neighborhoods or supporting cultural inclusivity, his goal is to make Ward 5 a model for diverse and vibrant living in Calgary.

Ward 5 is home to the “Confluence” public art mural, a large-scale sculptural installation at the Martindale C-Train Station. The mural, completed in 2012, uses various materials like glazed terra cotta, pattern-cut metal, and LED lighting to represent the connection of rivers to the city.
