The truth about Calgary’s Future

There seems to be a lot of talk about Calgary’s Future these days–so we wanted to clear a few things and help you explain things to your anti-vaxx uncle who’s not coming to Thanksgiving Dinner this weekend.

Who’s funding you?

We are funded by hard-working Calgarians that care about this city’s future. We’re funded by the folks who drive our buses, maintain our city streets and pick up our garbage. We’ve been completely transparent since Day 1 about who is funding us and what we’re doing. This is the most important election in a generation and we simply can’t sit it out. We have all the ingredients for success in this city, but we need the right leaders at the table to move us forward. We can’t let Calgary fall behind. Who’s behind you?

From Day 1, we’ve played by the rules that exist for Third Party Advertisers. We represent Calgarians from all walks of life, and we are proudly supported by local labour organizations. These are the folks who drive our buses, clear snow from our streets and are on the frontlines of the pandemic. 

How much funding do you have?

We’re the only Third Party Advertiser that has disclosed our financials. We’ve played by the rules since Day 1. We’ve been nothing but transparent and have nothing to hide. As you can see from our Disclosures and Reports, on the city website, we’re spending $1.7 Million to ensure we have a Council who works together to serve the interest of Calgarians. This is the most important election in a generation. We have all the ingredients for success in this city, but we need the right leaders at the table to move us forward. $1.7 Million is a ridiculous amount of money!!!! What are you spending that on?

Advertising isn’t cheap. Ensuring we have the right leaders at the table to move our city forward, at this pivotal time, takes resources. We’re spending this money on advertising, including in print and on social media, and on organizing. We’re supported by a team who all earn a fair wage. We are also the only organization that has disclosed our funding at this time – for all any of us know, organizations like the Equalization PAC could be outspending our campaign 5 to 1.

Are you just funnelling money to candidates?

Nope. That’s not allowed. We’re playing by the rules that exist for Third Party Advertisers and have been nothing but transparent since Day 1. We are spending funds on advertising–about the candidates – that we designed and developed ourselves.

Are you behind the FarkNo campaign?

Nope, but we’re pleased to see that other Calgarians recognize how important this election is and how high the stakes truly are. We can’t let Calgary fall behind.
