Save the Green Line

The provincial government is withholding critical funding for Calgary’s new Green Line LRT. It’s up to us to convince them otherwise.

Increased costs caused by inflation have made a shortened Green Line the only viable option.

But even though Calgary City Council voted to move forward with a revised budget for the first phase of the Green Line, the provincial government is withholding their share of funding.

A world class city like Calgary needs world class transit. We can’t afford to fall behind on critical public transportation. Not only is the provincial government undermining the Green Line by withholding critical funding, they’re also lashing out against Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek and former mayor Naheed Nenshi in an attempt to politicize the project and score partisan points.

A cancelled Green Line means our public transit system can’t possibly meet the needs of our city, let alone the 100,000 more Calgarians we’re expected to welcome by 2029. The Green Line is critical for the continued growth and prosperity of Calgary–it will make our city more accessible, create new jobs, encourage residential and commercial development, and attract new businesses and economic investment.

Help save the Green Line. Send an email right now to let your MLA, Calgary and Area MLAs, City Councillors, the Minister of Transportation, and Premier Danielle Smith know with one click how important it is to get the Green Line built or to repay what they’ve cost Calgarians. We’ve already drafted the email, so all you have to do is enter your info and hit send.
