Here’s how Terry is trying to increase your costs:
He fights against affordable housing initiatives in your community. 1
- Terry votes against building more homes every chance he gets. He wants to defund affordable housing. Meanwhile, one in five Calgary households can’t afford their housing costs.
He wants to leave your neighbours behind.2
- Terry wants to stop city funding for the low-income transit pass. Whenever there’s a gap in funding for a program that supports vulnerable people, Terry and his party, Communities First, advocate against investing in the people who call our city home.
He fuels costly chaos downtown.3
- Terry wants to defund mental health supports in downtown Calgary. Rather than supporting vulnerable populations, Terry kicks them to the curb. The result? More emergency calls, more overdoses, more crime and desperation. All of which cost taxpayers more than providing adequate support in the first place.
He wastes your tax dollars.
- While Ward 7 taxes help pay for recreation centres in the suburbs, Terry hasn’t delivered on any new services for the communities he’s supposed to serve. Not only that, he promotes costly delay tactics like referendums and lengthy reviews of processes that are already underway. These tactics stall progress and cost taxpayers more.
Rather than standing up for the needs of everyday Calgarians, Terry Wong caters to the loudest voices.
Whenever the needs of vulnerable community members come into play, Terry shirks responsibility and points fingers at other levels of government.
He takes defiant, oppositional positions on issues he should be working collaboratively to solve. Meanwhile, the residents of Ward 7 lose out on critical services and infrastructure.
Ward 7 deserves better. Much better.
In 2021, Terry was elected City Councillor in Ward 7 because opposing candidates split the vote.
