Dan McLean: DISASTROUS for Ward 13

Why? Because he doesn’t take representing Ward 13 seriously. 

Dan McLean doesn’t care about representing you and your community at City Hall:

He phones in for work from the golf course.¹

• In 2023 Dan phoned in to a City Council meeting while riding in a golf cart mid-round at Heritage Point Golf Course. He was distracted during the meeting, did not respond to role call, and failed to vote on a motion. The city’s integrity commissioner Ellen-Anne O’Donnell reported that Dan’s behaviour was “not in the best interests of the city, as it had the potential to undermine public confidence in city governance.” 

He makes racist remarks.²

• In 2022 two videos surfaced showing McLean engaging in racist stereotypes and mocking Indigenous people. As a result he was removed from several council committees.

He accepts illegal gifts from corporations.³

• Elections Alberta gave McLean a penalty for breaking the Local Authorities Election Act. Following an investigation, the office concluded that McLean had accepted donations from corporations during the 2021 municipal election, violating the Elections Act.

Ward 13 deserves better. Much better.

In 2021, Dan was elected to City Council in Ward 13.
